One Last Trailer for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

star_trek_into_darkness_poster_enterprise

Well, here is your Star Trek. Looks like it’s goin’ into darkness.

Seriously, just the worst title.

Anyhoo, this new trailer for the movie shows off some new stuff. For instance we now know that Benedict Khanberbatch has a giant-ass spaceship at his disposal. I assume it’s a stealth ship, because it’s painted black and made of angles and holy cow that’s so dumb I can’t even begin to articulate. | Full Story

Breaking: acclaimed and talented actor Michael Shannon has released a video clip on YouTube, in which he speaks directly to his mortal enemy, Kal-El, and threatens the inhabitants of Earth with destruction unless Kal-El gives himself up. At this point, we can only pray for salvation, as none could ever hope to match Shannon’s godlike powers in combat. We must hope for deliverance, or that Shannon is merciful.

…And I’m now seeing that this is simply Shannon in character as someone named “General Zod,” part of the marketing for his new movie. | Full Story

Over the past few days, Disney has been releasing new character posters for The Lone Ranger via the film’s Facebook page. The posters showcase both already-established characters, such as the eponymous protagonist, played by Armie Hammer, and the Halloween costume played by Johnny Depp, and newer ones, like the presumed love interests, played by Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter, and the presumed villains, played by William Fichtner and Tom Wilkinson. | Full Story

A new trailer has finally come out for Elysium, the Matt Damon-starring, much-anticipated return of District 9 director Neill Blomkamp.

TV Spot for ‘Man of Steel’

The first TV commercial for the new Superman film went out last night. It’s… basically the trailer we’ve all seen, just cut down to 30 seconds. Bleh. But maybe this is a good thing. This is surely a better preview for the movie for the people with 30 second memory spans. This way, they don’t have to worry about forgetting what they’re seeing midway through.

Urgh, this movie. Only a studio executive would look at a Christopher Nolan’s Batfilms and think, “Hey, this is what we need for Superman! | Full Story

Two New Trailers for ‘Kick-Ass 2′

Kick-Ass-2-poster-535x713

One would reasonably expect that a movie called Kick-Ass is not seeking to go in line with certain social graces. And the first trailer for the film featured a good deal of swearing, blood, and other things to make Helen Lovejoy throw up her hands and cry for someone to think of the children. Well, now parents don’t have to worry about the promotional material for Kick-Ass 2 corrupting their darlings, because a green band trailer has been released. | Full Story

Trailer for ‘Grown Ups 2′

grown-ups-2

Well, Grown Ups made a lot of money, so why not make a sequel? I hope you’re happy, America. A trailer has emerged from the bog for the new film, which will presumably feature the further antics of Chris Rock and a bunch of other guys who are way less talented than he is.

Here’s the synopsis. Read it in the voice of the narrator from this video for the full effect. | Full Story

New Trailer for ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’

mortal_instruments_movie_poster

It’s a strange age we’re living in, where fan fiction can become legit fiction, and then become cinema. Fifty Shades of Grey infamously started out as Twilight fanfic, but Cassandra Clare, author of the Mortal Instruments series, also began writing in another author’s world. She did Harry Potter fanfic before making an, um, “original” work.

In the series’ first book, the #1 New York Times bestseller “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. | Full Story

New Trailer for ‘This Is the End’

emma-watson-this-is-the-end

This is the End looks like either a ridiculously self-indulgent conglomerate of celebrities riffing on themselves, or an enormously fun comedian team-up movie. It might just end up being both. The new trailer for the film showcases just how many famous people are in it, playing fictional versions of themselves.

The comedy This Is the End follows six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. | Full Story
