Soderbergh’s ‘Side Effects’ Trailer Hits the Net

Steven Soderbergh‘s upcoming film Side Effects released its first trailer today, promising audiences an all-too-familiar thriller involving pharmaceuticals, sex and scandal.

The famed director has been wowing audiences left and right for the past 15 years, gifting filmgoers with such titles as Erin Brockovich, Traffic, Ocean’s Eleven, and Contagion. Sure, there have been the occasional mistakes (The Informant!), the quirky films made for elitists (The Good German), and the just plain bad (The Girlfriend Experience), but Soderbergh has always found a charming way to earn back the trust of his fans (Magic Mike). | Full Story

‘John Dies at the End’ Trailer

This is old-ish news (Old in movie news terms, as in “from two days ago”), but all I’m hearing about today is Star Wars Star Wars Star Wars, which, zzzzzzzz. So here’s something that’s interesting: the trailer for John Dies at the End, which is one of the strangest movies to see the light of day in a long time. Based on the novel of the same name by David Wong, the film… well, the trailer does a good job of explaining (sort of) all the crazy supernatural happenings that are going on. | Full Story

Raimi’s ‘Evil Dead’ Remake Gets a Bloody Red Band Trailer

When Sam Raimi announced he’d be writing a remake of his own seminal horror classic The Evil Dead, I think the general reaction was “Why, God, why?!” Practically the definition of “cult classic,” Raimi’s feature debut re-defined low budget horror, pushed the boundaries of good taste, helped revamp the American independent film, and created a pop-cult icon in Bruce Campell‘s Ash.

And with so many remakes, re-imaginings, prequels and Hollywood’s general cannibalization of cinema history recently, I think we had a right to be worried. | Full Story

This red band trailer for Evil Dead already leaked last week, after someone taped its showing at the New York Comic Con. But now you can view an official, clean, and crisp version of the trailer. Well, “clean” being a relative term. Since it’s full of delightfully horrific blood and guts, such as demon-possessed individuals slicing into their cheeks and tongues with various sharp implements, among all other manner of bodily harm. | Full Story

New ‘Skyfall’ Trailer Just Released

Another trailer for the highly anticipated new James Bond movie was just released. Skyfall is the twenty-third Bond movie, the third with Daniel Craig as agent 007. Ever since Craig was cast as the spy, the Bond movies have gotten a bit darker and grittier. Following in that pattern, Skyfall challenge the typical Bond formula of guns, girls, and bad guys. There are definitely still some guns, girls, and bad guys, but this James Bond shows some emotion and vulnerability while kicking major a**. | Full Story

Short ‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’ Trailer Released

A new trailer has been released for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, almost as if to remind audiences that it’s Halloween season and they have a responsibility to be terrified.

This trailer is considerably shorter than the first, only offering a horrifying sixty seconds worth of material alongside the typical trailer voiceover. Three terrifying dimensions are showcased in a minute’s span, reminding us why we go and see films like Silent Hill in the first place: to be downright disturbed. | Full Story
