Tom Cruise Returns To Take On ‘Mission: Impossible 5′

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Tom Cruise has taken on another mission under alias agent Ethan Hunt. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have both confirmed the veteran actor has signed a deal to star in and produce the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, according to a Deadline report.

Of course this comes as no surprise since the last installment, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, made on a $145 million budget, busted up the box office with a global haul of nearly $700 million, the most a Cruise film has ever raked in. | Full Story

Fun Video: ‘WALL-E’ and ‘Oblivion’ Trailer Mash Up

'WALL-E' and 'Oblivion' Trailer Mash Up

This video is basically the endpoint of the joke pretty much everyone was making after the first trailer for Oblivion came out. Namely, a lot of people observed that the plot of Oblivion, which sees a lonely Tom Cruise patrolling an Earth devoid of human life in the wake of a catastrophe, seems quite similar to that of WALL-E, which saw a lonely robot patrolling an Earth devoid of human life in the wake of a catastrophe. | Full Story

New ‘Oblivion’ Trailer

url

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Tom-Cruise-as-WALL-E sci-fi blockbuster Oblivion. There’s some new footage mixed in with that from the first trailer. What strikes me, though is how much more plot detail this one gives away. I figured that the first trailer had revealed pretty much everything about the plot, but this one tells us even more. I really, really wish they’d stop doing that with promo materials. | Full Story

Under the supervision of the late Tony Scott, Top Gun was re-mastered in 3D post-conversion for the big screen from high-resolution original negative scans. | Full Story

Poster and Trailer for ‘Oblivion’ Released

Oblivion-Trailer

Over the weekend, the marketing campaign for next year’s sci-fi Tom Cruise starrer Oblivion suddenly kicked into gear. First, a poster was released, and not much later, a trailer as well. So how does it look? Well, it’s refreshing that the poster has no sparks (I am so tired of sparks) or flying debris, even if it does use the too-worn “centered on a character with their back to the viewer” layout. | Full Story

I know the joke about Tom Cruise running in all his movies has gone beyond dead horse beating into the realm of punching the ground beneath which the horse is buried, but come on, look at this image! Not even wearing a big mech suit stops Cruise from running his heart out! And look at that hilarious expression on his face! The photo isn’t official, instead scooped by Collider off of Japanese website 2chradio. | Full Story

New ‘Jack Reacher’ Trailer, with Evil Werner Herzog

Werner Herzog

Yahoo! has the latest trailer for Jack Reacher, the action-thriller starring Tom Cruise as a former military police officer who investigates a string of sniper slayings. But Cruise is a distant second in my concerns when he’s sharing space with legendary German director / madman Werner Herzog, who plays a criminal boss who is presumably behind all the big bad things that Jack Reacher is investigating. Herzog, with his heartless eyes and cold, sinister voice, is absolutely born for the bad guy role. | Full Story

The prime suspect is a former military man himself who claims innocence and demands Reacher’s services. The case seems like an easy open and closed case, but soon Rock Of Ages actor’s character realizes that there is much more to the whole case. | Full Story
