The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Redesigned Costume


Promotion for the sequel to Sony Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man seems to be ramping up while filming for the comic book movie continues in New York.

Just yesterday the studio released an official image portraying the redesigned Spider-Man costume. To the delight of fanboys, the redesign appears to draw more from the traditional suit featured in the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s comic book creation.

Gone are the stylized “belt” line, sneaker boots, gloves, reflective eye shades in the mask and the basketball-texture. | Full Story

A recent report from Total Film has speculated on the possibility of the first Green Goblin appearance in the heavily anticipated Amazing Spider-Man 2 following some recent comments made by John Krokidas.

When it was announced last month that Dane DeHaan would be taking on the role of Harry Osborn, film and comic book geeks alike rightly rejoiced. The unmistakable Jamie Foxx recently sat down with MTV to talk about his upcoming role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as Max Dillon, better known as Electro. This comes just a week and a half after his appointment as the lead villain in the upcoming film, and the actor has wasted no time in revealing juicy details.

Sorry James Franco fans, the hearthrob won’t be back to reprise is role as Harry Osborn. Instead director Marc Webb opted for up and comer Dane Dehaan to play Spidey’s ill-fated best friend. Dehaan beat out the likes of Les Miserables Eddie Redmayne, and The Hunger Games Sam Clafin. The folks at Vulture told us Webb tweeted a picture of DeHaan with the caption “Meet Harry Osborn.” Dehaan responded via Twitter “To say I’m excited is an understatement.” Aww, it’s so sweet to see a young actor get a big break like this. | Full Story

Courtesy of Variety, reports have been spreading across the net claiming Shailene Woodley has been offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.

Shailene Woodley is perhaps best known for her starring role in the television series The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which has just been canceled after its fifth season. Woodley also made an appearance in 2011’s The Descendants alongside George Clooney. | Full Story

The Amazing Spider-Man vs.The Dark Knight Rises

In China, the Hollywood blockbusters The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises were forced to face-off in theaters on the same day.

The state-owned movie distributor, China Film Group, assigned the same release date to the two films in order to limit the success of American movies while boosting the revenues of locally produced Chinese films, according to the L.A. Times.

Zhang Hongsen, deputy head of the film bureau controlled by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television told the state-owned People’s Daily newspaper, “We hope those protective measures will be able to create a space for domestic movies to survive and grow.”

The Amazing Spider-Man defeated The Dark Knight Rises as the two superhero films competed for viewers in the country with the second largest movie market. | Full Story

The Amazing Spiderman Swoops to $35 Million Opening Night

The Amazing Spider-Man stood tall on Tuesday, swooping to $35 million on its first day of release which metaphorically kicked off an explosive July 4 weekend.

The movie had the best performance on a Tuesday in box office history. Transformers, which made $27.9 million on July 3 seven years ago, held the title until now.

Spiderman’s jackpot came from 4,318 theaters and was supercharged by premium 3D prices and IMAX theaters, which accounted for $4 million in sales. | Full Story

Sony Pictures has released an extended 4 minute preview for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man. This time around, the story goes deeper into Peter Parker’s life and the way he became an orphan.

The film uses narration taken from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book, with the backstory of Oscorp being owned by its classic villain Norman Osborn. The movie also shows how the Oscorp company has direct ties to Parker’s parents and Osborn’s past. | Full Story
