‘Spartacus’ Gets Canceled By Starz

Starz has decided to pull the plug on Spartacus after this upcoming third season.

The company is set to make an official announcement that the next season of its historical drama Spartacus will mark the final go-around.

“Starz always does the unexpected,” Spartacus’ creator Steven S. DeKnight said. “This show has been challenged, to say the least, in many, many ways. We’ve faced many difficulties and tragedies on the show. My original plan was to attack the show in a five- to seven-season arc. | Full Story

Andy Whitfield Dies of Cancer

Andy Whitfield dies at the age of 39 of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Andy Whitfield who got his break out role as the lead in Starz’s hit show  ”Spartacus:Blood and Sand” appeared in all 13 episodes of the first season. Shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with the deadly cancer. While production waited for Whitfield’s expected recovery they shot a prequel to “Spartacus:Blood and Sand” that the actor did not perform in. However, when Whitfield’s condition got worse the Spartacus role was eventually recast with Liam McIntyre. | Full Story
