After a few more on-set photos of the RoboCop remake were leaked online, news got a bit worse for the film. Yesterday, Sony Pictures officially moved its release date from August 9, 2013 to February 7, 2014. Another science-fiction action picture, Elysium, will take its place on that late-summer weekend. After several shots of RoboCop’s redesigned suits were passed around online, fans have already expressed consternation over the creative direction of the remake. | Full Story

Director Jose Padilha is taking some creative liberties in his remake of the 1987 classic RoboCop. Padilha equipped RoboCop with a new motorcycle and weapons to fight crime in the mean streets of Chicago.

Filming is underway in Toronto for RoboCop and some photos of Joel Kinnaman suited up as RoboCop, mounted on top of his crotch rocked, appeared online.  In the photos below, RoboCop can be seen in his mat black body armor blending seamlessly with his custom sport bike. | Full Story

Michael Keaton Lands Role in ‘Robocop’ Remake

Michael Keaton is set to join the cast of Jose Padilha’s Robocop remake.  According to a Deadline report, the Batman Returns actor will play the role of Raymond Sellars,  CEO of the corporation that turns Alex Murphy into RoboCop.

Hugh Laurie was expected to play the role, but reports surfaced last week the House actor backed out before a deal was made.

In Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 version of the Robocop movie, Sellars was head of the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp.  The corporation specialized in the  robot technology that saved the life of dedicated Detroit police officer Alex Murphy. | Full Story

Jose Padilha is out making his first major motion picture with MGM’s reboot of Robocop, and according to reports, he is bitter that the studio won’t let him do what he wants with the project.

José Padilha’s RoboCop remake is in pre-production and has over a year left before it debuts in theaters. Yet, MGM has launched a new viral website and video to promote the movie.

OmniCorp.com, is the mock corporate website for the fictional company in the movie responsible for creating RoboCop.  An “Access Denied” notice is returned when most of the site’s links are clicked. | Full Story

Hugh Laurie has a new job. After retiring his cane and stethoscope, the actor is in talks to play top villain in Sony’s remake of the 1987 sci-fi action film Robocop.

Laurie will play the ultra rich CEO of Omnicorp, the company responsible for making Robocop. In the original, his name was Dick Jones, but no word whether he will have the same name.
