Nicolas Cage Explains Why He Turned Down ‘Shrek’

During a recent interview on NBC’s Today show, actor Nicolas Cage confirmed and explained why he turned down the opportunity to voice the character Shrek in “Shrek 5.”

“Well, the news said it was because of vanity. I think that’s a bit strong,” the 49-year-old told Today’s Savannah Guthrie.

“But the truth is, I’m not afraid to be ugly in a movie…. When you’re drawn, in a way it says more about how children are going to see you than anything else, and I so care about that.”

Cage was drawn to another fictional character in “The Croods,” a 3D animated comedy-adventure in which Cage voices the character Grug. | Full Story

With The Expendables 2, Sylvester Stallone and Co. added the likes of Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme while also expanding the roles of both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. | Full Story

DreamWorks Animation always finds room for stars in their animated features, and their latest offering is no exception. Today, the studio released the first official trailer for The Croods, an animated adventure starring Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds. The new movie is directed by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, the Academy Award-nominated duo behind Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon.

The official plot synopsis states that “when their cave is destroyed, the Crood family is forced to embark on an adventure into a pre-historic world in search of a new home.” This differs slightly from the initial plot summary that was reported when the casting of Cage and Reynolds was announced in 2010. | Full Story

A few weeks ago, rumors hit the internet of Jim Carrey possibly joining the cast of Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. Now, it seems as though all the talk may come into fruition.

Although not officially confirmed by the studio, director Jeff Wadlow posted a tweet hinting that he has “officially” cast Carrey for a role in Kick Ass 2. In the tweet over this past weekend, Wadlow stated that Kick Ass 2 has found its Colonel and added a familiar Jim Carrey quote along with message. | Full Story

After months of uncertainty whether Kick Ass 2: Balls To The Wall was every going to go into production, Deadline has just revealed that universal has stepped in to finance the film.

The big question was surrounded around if the original cast will be returning for the second edition. Rumors suggested that Kick Ass lead Aaron Johnson may not return and the production team has lined up possible replacements. Though, that turned out not to be true, these rumors may have been caused by the fact that none of the original actors had sequel deals in place. | Full Story

Nicolas Cage Coughs Up $6.25 Million To Pay Back Taxes

Nicolas Cage has paid $6.25 million to the IRS in an attempt to pay off the huge back taxes tab he owes Uncle Sam. According to the documents, the multi-million dollar payment covers his taxes owed on his 2007 earnings.

In all, the actor has to pay around $13 million in federal income-based payments.  His latest submission of funds has cleared him of about half of the debts.

“Over the course of my career I have paid at least $70 million in taxes,” says Cage. | Full Story

Nicolas Cage is out promoting his new movie “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.” instead of promoting, he had to spend precious face time on TV addressing silly rumors about his personal life. So is Cage really a vampire?

The rumor started when a photo of a Civil War-era Tennessee man having a strong resemblance to Cage popped up on the internet. With the caption saying, “proof that Cage was a creature of the night.”
