During a recent interview on NBC’s Today show, actor Nicolas Cage confirmed and explained why he turned down the opportunity to voice the character Shrek in “Shrek 5.”

“Well, the news said it was because of vanity. I think that’s a bit strong,” the 49-year-old told Today’s Savannah Guthrie.

“But the truth is, I’m not afraid to be ugly in a movie…. When you’re drawn, in a way it says more about how children are going to see you than anything else, and I so care about that.”

Cage was drawn to another fictional character in “The Croods,” a 3D animated comedy-adventure in which Cage voices the character Grug. | Full Story

DreamWorks Animation always finds room for stars in their animated features, and their latest offering is no exception. Today, the studio released the first official trailer for The Croods, an animated adventure starring Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds. The new movie is directed by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, the Academy Award-nominated duo behind Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon.

The official plot synopsis states that “when their cave is destroyed, the Crood family is forced to embark on an adventure into a pre-historic world in search of a new home.” This differs slightly from the initial plot summary that was reported when the casting of Cage and Reynolds was announced in 2010. | Full Story

Although not officially confirmed by the studio, director Jeff Wadlow posted a tweet hinting that he has “officially” cast Carrey for a role in Kick Ass 2. Nicolas Cage Coughs Up $6.25 Million To Pay Back Taxes

Nicolas Cage has paid $6.25 million to the IRS in an attempt to pay off the huge back taxes tab he owes Uncle Sam. According to the documents, the multi-million dollar payment covers his taxes owed on his 2007 earnings.

In all, the actor has to pay around $13 million in federal income-based payments.  His latest submission of funds has cleared him of about half of the debts.
