As I watched Don Jon’s Addiction at Sundance, I knew that news of this sort would be coming down the pipeline sooner or later. Totally called it.* The film, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s first feature, stars him as a lothario whose eponymous addiction is pornography. The movie was a big hit at the festival, and it quickly got scooped up for distribution by Relativity Media.

Which is where Gordon-Levitt had to think about making sure that the movie, which deals pretty explicitly with sex, would get a R rating, rather than a box office death sentence NC-17. | Full Story

Director Robert Rodriguez recently sat down with MTV to discuss how well production was going for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, a film that’s been grabbing headlines most notably for its casting choices.

Apparently, even though very few “pieces” have only been shot along with an opening sequence, Robert Rodriguez feels that everything is going smoothly.

Rumor has it Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the front runner for the male lead in Godzilla. 

While Johnson isn’t yet a household name, he’s been making waves recently with his roles in Oliver Stone’s Savages, Oscar nominated Anna Karenina, Kick-Ass and just wrapped Kick Ass 2. Per Deadline.com, the role is Johnson’s…if he wants it. Initially, 2012′s golden boy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, was considered for the role, however he turned it down for a role in Sin City 2. Looks like producers are really gunning for an actor with a hyphenated last name, eh? | Full Story

It’s been announced through Deadline that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will make his next film the heavily anticipated Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the cool-guy-noir-comic-book movie from directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play Johnny, a starring role originally offered to the always eccentrically interesting Johnny Depp. Apparently, Depp has chosen to take his Keith Richards impressions and quirkiness to another project, allowing the always hirable Joseph Gordon-Levitt a piece of the limelight. | Full Story

Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s name has been dropped to play Batman in Justice League, the next superhero flick requiring big budgets and even bigger names. The rumor, unconfirmed of course, comes from the prominent blog of Drew McWeeny, who used a bit of critical thinking along with unspecified sources to draw this somewhat wild conclusion.

“They’re a long way from filming anything Justice League related,” wrote McWeeny, “but they appear to be solidifying deals for Gordon-Levitt and, potentially, at least one other actor from the Nolan films to do… something.”

“They,” of course refers to Warner Bros., the studio responsible for putting the DC heroes together in (hopefully) the same fashion as The Avengers. | Full Story

It’s fair to say Looper wasn’t what I expected and I mean that in a good way. Sony very craftily left out an entire plot line in the Looper advertising, so the movie went in a completely different direction than I’d imagined. These days most movie surprises or plot twists are predictable and/or recycled from past successful movies, but Looper kept you guessing until the end.

I applaud Looper’s mastermind, Rian Johnson, and his ability to successfully articulate an original idea for a movie. So many of today’s films are remakes or sequels, I can’t help but wonder if Hollywood is running out of ideas. | Full Story

Looper Teaser Just Released Starring Bruce Willis & Joseph Gordon-Levitt

The official Looper trailer has been released.

Looper is an upcoming American, futuristic, science-fiction film, directed by Rian Johnson. The movie, which has a time travel plot, stars Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Looper combines criminal organizations and corporate influences in one mixture. The film also has a number of technology influences, one of them being a time-travel machine that will be featured.
