Jay-Z, Will and Jada Smith Annie Remake Won’t Be Called ‘Annie’

It appears Jay-Z, Will and Jada Smith are planning to take some creative liberties with their Annie remake film.  In fact, it may not be called “Annie” at all.

The upcoming film, stars the awarding-winning actors Quvenzhane Wallis and  Jamie Foxx. Recently it was announced Foxx would play a variation of the original character Daddy Warbucks who will be called Benjamin Stacks in the remake.

According to the union casting notice obtained by the good people over at Playbill.com, many of the other character’s names will also be changed, including the title character. | Full Story

Jay-Z’s Annie remake is still trying to put a cast together.  12-year-old Willow Smith recently exited the lead role and Southern Wild’s Quvenzhané Wallis had to step up to replace her.

Now Jamie Foxx is reportedly in talks with Sony Pictures to play Benjamin Stacks in the modern retelling of the Broadway classic, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Stacks is a modernized variation of the Daddy Warbucks character who helps the iconic orphan search for her parents. | Full Story

In this installment, this blue Electro guy is the main super villain in the film. He gains his ability to control electricity after being struck by lightning while working on a power line. There was just too much Jamie Foxx in Django Unchained for China.

Authorities have reportedly shut down screenings of Quentin Tarantino’s bloody spaghetti western one minute into its debut, even after a major marketing campaign and several edits by the filmmakers to tone down the bloodshed.

“‘Django’ screenings have been postponed and we can’t guarantee when they will be resumed,” said a spokesperson for Beijing’s Sanlitun Megabox theater.
