Trailer for ‘Believe,’ a Series from Alfonso Cuarón and J.J. Abrams

believe-nbc-tv-show

Wait, Alfonso Cuarón created a TV show and no one told me about it?! Well I’m just going to have to check this out posthaste!

Huh.

Okay, so that wasn’t terribly impressive.

There’s a girl with psychic powers and the forces of evil want her and for some reason the only one who can protect her is a death row inmate (he’s innocent, of course), and Delroy Lindo yadda yadda yadda it all looks pretty rote. | Full Story

The court of Henry VIII meets a galaxy far, far away. Latino Review has the scoop that Jonathan Rhys Meyers has been approached for a role in the upcoming Star Wars movie. Generally, such rumors are unreliable, except this guy seems to never ever be wrong about this sort of thing (he had it that Harrison Ford was coming back before anyone else, if you’ll remember).

This casting makes sense, since Meyers worked with Episode VII director J.J. | Full Story

One Last Trailer for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

star_trek_into_darkness_poster_enterprise

Well, here is your Star Trek. Looks like it’s goin’ into darkness.

Seriously, just the worst title.

Anyhoo, this new trailer for the movie shows off some new stuff. For instance we now know that Benedict Khanberbatch has a giant-ass spaceship at his disposal. I assume it’s a stealth ship, because it’s painted black and made of angles and holy cow that’s so dumb I can’t even begin to articulate. | Full Story

New ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ Photos Emerge

New Star Trek Photos Emerge

Paramount Pictures cleared some new photos of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek: Into Darkness Monday morning and in one Hi-Res photo, a Starship is going down in a ball of flames.

The photos feature stars Chris Pine in the moment of danger and Zoe Saldana in an aggressive stance with a space gun cocked and ready to blow some bad guys to smithereens. Anton Yelchin is also in a photo with a perplexed look. Zachary Quinto can be seen steadying his assault rifle, and director J.J. | Full Story

International Trailer and Poster for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-Poster

After a goodly amount of teasing and withholding, there’s finally a full-length trailer for the new Star Trek movie. Of course, it’s still mostly teasing and withholding, but now there’s something resembling the outline of a plot in it.

It seems that Benedict Cumberbatch’s character kills a bunch of top officials, because authority figures are always useless in movie land. We can only ever trust the hotshot, doesn’t-play-by-the-rules maverick outlaw to save the day, and Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) is more than willing to be the hottest shot possible, and goes rogue to chase down the villain. | Full Story

New Teaser for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’

url

There’s still no full trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness, even though the movie is about two months away from release. Instead, we’ve got another teaser, which has allowed a few more tiny plot details and new images to escape from J.J. Abram’s ever-tight lips.

This teaser introduces some more lightheartedness into the pervasive grimness that’s been seen in most of the promo material up until now. There’s still Benedict Cumberbatch being ominous and buildings blowing up, but there’s also Captain Kirk being wacky, Spock being dry, and Bones screaming about hating adventuring. | Full Story

J.J. Abrams Might Produce ‘Portal’ and/or ‘Half-Life’ Movies

Abrams_Newell

It’s clear at this point that J.J. Abrams will not be satisfied until he has control of every nerdy property in existence. Yesterday, at the DICE Summit, a Las Vegas gathering of video game execs, Abrams and Gabe Newell, founder and director of revolutionary game developer Valve, announced a partnership during a joint keynote address called “Storytelling Across Platforms: Who Benefits Most, the Audience or the Player?”

Valve is best known for the Half-Life series, which changed first-person shooters as we know them, and Steam, their games network which has been at the forefront of digital distribution. | Full Story
