When the going got tough Robin Roberts stepped up to the plate. The Good Morning America reporter has received her date to return back to ABC show only five months after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

Today, Robin Roberts has made a dramatic return to the Good Morning America set for the first time since undergoing bone marrow surgery. She didn’t appear on any cameras though. The TV host arrived this morning at 5 a.m. ET for a series of test to calculate when she’ll be able to make her official return.

The beloved Good Morning America host, Robin Roberts, will be returning to her ABC News position full-time in May or June.
Back in June, Roberts was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called myelodysplastic syndrome, thereafter began her leave of absence from Good Morning America in September. In October, Roberts received a bone marrow transplant and according to her doctors, Roberts’ progress is right on schedule and she is doing well. Recently, an ABC executive confirmed that the network reached out to The First Lady to ask if she would guest-host Good Morning America for one day, sometime later this month.

The morning show anchor originally announced she would take an extensive leave after Friday’s show to undergo a bone marrow transplant; however she will be leaving after today’s show instead.

Robin Roberts will take a temporary leave from Good Morning America for medical reasons, she confirmed Monday on the show. The 51-year-old anchor said Friday will be her last day before she begins medical leave to have a bone marrow transplant.
This morning, Roberts told viewers that she is preparing to check into the hospital for treatments next Tuesday. She said the transplant will begin several days later, telling USA Today,“It still takes about 10 days after being admitted because there are some things you have to go through before the (bone marrow) transplant actually occurs.”
