Star Wars creator, George Lucas has confirmed the original trifecta that captured the hearts and minds of sci-fi geeks the globe round, will reprise their iconic roles in the upcoming film Star Wars: Episode VII.

Lucas made the announcement to Bloomberg Businessweek, stating Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher were all signed for the new Episode VII, even before Disney purchased Lucasfilm’s for $4 billion in December.

“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison — or were pretty much in the final stages of negotiation,” Lucas said. | Full Story

Kathleen Kennedy Jumps Aboard Lucasfilm As George Lucas Focuses On Retirement

George Lucas appears to be serious about retiring. Lucasfilm Ltd. released a statement today announcing that Kathleen Kennedy, a longtime partner of Steven Spielberg, will be joining the production company as co-chair. Lucas will remain in his current CEO position, but Kennedy’s new role as co-chair will allow him more time to “move forward with his retirement plans”, according to the press release.

Kennedy is an established award winning producer, producing seven Best Picture Academy Award nominations for the likes of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Seabiscuit, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and War Horse. | Full Story

‘Red Tails’ Soars Above Hollywood’s Expectations

“Red Tails” rose above Hollywood’s expectation on its opening weekend with a very respectable $19.1 million debut. The $58 million George Lucas’ passion-movie, starring Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr., captured second place behind “Underworld Awakening 3D”.

The strong debut of the Tuskegee Airmen film put it above other comparable fighter pilot movies such as Stealth ($13.3 million), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow ($15.6 million), and Flyboys ($6 million). | Full Story

Lucas went up against colleagues for years who opposed making the film with the belief that nobody would be interested in seeing a movie about African American soldiers, starring African American actors.

Lead by Terrannce Howard , Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Bryan Cranston. Its about the first African American squadron in world war II called the Tuskegee Airmen. During the Deeply racialy driving time The Tuskegee Airmen initially were not allowed to fight and equipped with subpar  fighter-bomber aircraft,  finally the fighter group acquired the aircraft with which they became most commonly associated, the North American P-51 Mustang. | Full Story
