Michael Keaton Lands Role in ‘Robocop’ Remake

Michael Keaton is set to join the cast of Jose Padilha’s Robocop remake.  According to a Deadline report, the Batman Returns actor will play the role of Raymond Sellars,  CEO of the corporation that turns Alex Murphy into RoboCop.

Hugh Laurie was expected to play the role, but reports surfaced last week the House actor backed out before a deal was made.

In Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 version of the Robocop movie, Sellars was head of the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp.  The corporation specialized in the  robot technology that saved the life of dedicated Detroit police officer Alex Murphy. | Full Story

Since Resident Evil: Retribution hits theaters in September, a new trailer has been rolled out today featuring more apocalyptic zombie carnage.  The 3D trailer shows some of the great special effects and spectacular cinematography viewers can expect in the fifth installment of the franchise.

Starring Milla Jovovich, who has reprised her role in all five parts of the sci-fi movie, Resident Evil: Retribution looks real promising. Apart from the classic shoot-’em-up theme, grand explosions, and super tight S&M body suits worn by Jovovich, it appears that there will be another twist to the story. | Full Story

Kathleen Kennedy Jumps Aboard Lucasfilm As George Lucas Focuses On Retirement

George Lucas appears to be serious about retiring. Lucasfilm Ltd. released a statement today announcing that Kathleen Kennedy, a longtime partner of Steven Spielberg, will be joining the production company as co-chair. Lucas will remain in his current CEO position, but Kennedy’s new role as co-chair will allow him more time to “move forward with his retirement plans”, according to the press release.

Kennedy is an established award winning producer, producing seven Best Picture Academy Award nominations for the likes of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Seabiscuit, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and War Horse. | Full Story
