Nicolas Cage Explains Why He Turned Down ‘Shrek’

Nicolas Cage smile

During a recent interview on NBC’s Today show, actor Nicolas Cage confirmed and explained why he turned down the opportunity to voice the character Shrek in “Shrek 5.”

“Well, the news said it was because of vanity. I think that’s a bit strong,” the 49-year-old told Today’s Savannah Guthrie.

“But the truth is, I’m not afraid to be ugly in a movie…. When you’re drawn, in a way it says more about how children are going to see you than anything else, and I so care about that.”

Cage was drawn to another fictional character in “The Croods,” a 3D animated comedy-adventure in which Cage voices the character Grug. | Full Story

asm

More than anything else, the biggest takeaway I get from this press release is that the title of the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man is in fact… The Amazing Spider-Man 2. That’s just terrible. Anyway…

Columbia Pictures announced today that filming has begun on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York. The film is the first in the history of the franchise that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State. | Full Story

Seth MacFarlane Delivers Uncensored Oscars Announcement

85th Academy Awards Nominations Announcement

Seth MacFarlane pulled no punches when he and Emma Stone delivered the Oscar nominees this morning.

Nothing was off limits for Seth. He made jabs at himself, Harvey Weinstein, and even Adolf Hitler. Emma Stone helped diffuse the tension caused by MacFarlane’s line crossing jokes. Stone captivated the world with her lovable girlish charm and even made a few jabs herself.

MacFarlane was downright mean with some of his jokes, but nobody should be surprised. | Full Story

J

Jamie Foxx is in talks to play the Spiderman’s nemesis in the next installment of the franchise. First heard on Variety, Foxx would be cast as Max Dillon, aka Electro, a super villain who gains the power to control electricity after he is struck by lighting while working on a power line.

Jamie Foxx is an actor who brings a certain flair to all of his roles. While he’s definitely played some eccentric characters like Nathaniel Ayers in The Soloist, Dean “MF” Jones in Horrible Bosses and Django in Quienton Tarantino’s next flick, Django Unchained, the actor has yet to play a super villain. | Full Story

Bradley Cooper Rumored to Star in New Cameron Crowe Flick

Bradley Cooper

A recent article from The Playlist names Bradley Cooper as the new potential lead in Cameron Crowe’s upcoming film Deep Tiki.

Writer and director Cameron Crowe has never been one to shy away from taking time between projects. There was, after all, an entire six year hiatus between the 2005 feature film Elizabethtown and last year’s adaptation We Bought a Zoo. Before that, a whole 4 years passed between Elizabethtown and Crowe’s 2001 feature Vanilla SkyDeep Tiki, which is a return to original material, was originally conceived in 2008. | Full Story

Ben Affleck to Replace Ryan Gosling in ‘Focus’

Ben Affleck green

A recent report from The Playlist claims the upcoming film Focus has dropped the starring duo of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, and picked up the actor/director Ben Affleck – if the right female lead can be found.

The film would have marked the third film featuring Gosling and Stone, following in the footsteps of last year’s Crazy, Stupid, Love., and the upcoming crime drama Gangster Squad. However, the film will reunite Love’s writer/director John Requa with Glenn Ficarra, a team which brought audiences the likes of Bad Santa and Crazy, Stupid, Love. | Full Story

Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone in the First Official Trailer for ‘The Croods’

THE CROODS MOVIE POSTER

DreamWorks Animation always finds room for stars in their animated features, and their latest offering is no exception. Today, the studio released the first official trailer for The Croods, an animated adventure starring Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, and Ryan Reynolds. The new movie is directed by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, the Academy Award-nominated duo behind Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon.

The official plot synopsis states that “when their cave is destroyed, the Crood family is forced to embark on an adventure into a pre-historic world in search of a new home.” This differs slightly from the initial plot summary that was reported when the casting of Cage and Reynolds was announced in 2010. | Full Story

Trailer Released for ‘Movie 43′

movie 43

Movie 43 was originally titled Red Band, which, based on its first (red band) trailer, was far more appropriate. After all, the first joke is of a scatological nature generally not associated with mainstream filmmaking. And it just keeps going from there, with gags involving losing hands to robotic sex organs, a captured leprechaun (played by Gerard Butler!), and cruelty to blind children.

An anthology of comedy shorts, Movie 43 features an astonishing lineup of directors and actors. | Full Story
