Lily James Cast As Disney’s Newest ‘Cinderella’

Despite rumors of Emma Watson donning the glass slipper, it has been confirmed that Lily James will portray the rags to riches princess Cinderella.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Downton Abbey actress joins Cate Blanchett and director Kenneth Branagh in this live-action fairy tale.

This version of Cinderella comes on the heels of many other successful (and some not so successful) fairy tale adaptations, like Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Hunstman, Mirror Mirror, and the highly anticipated Malificent to name a few. | Full Story

The newest trailer for Monsters University sheds some light on the plot, while revealing some quirky new characters.

Monsters University is a prequel for the original Monsters Inc. From Monsters Inc, we learned that  Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) had dreams of being a Scarer ever since he was just a little monster. MU rewinds to when Mike and James P. Sullivan aka “Sulley” (John Goodman) first meet as freshman year roommates, both enrolled in the elite Monsters University scaring program. | Full Story

Disney’s ‘Planes’ Trailer Soars Into Cyberspace

A teaser trailer for Disney’s newest animated adventure, Planes, hit the web this morning. The film is a sort of spin off of Disney’s hit franchise Cars. Amidst mixed emotions, Planes stars Dane Cook as Dusty the crop duster, a plane with an irrational fear of heights, who nonetheless dreams of being high flying air racer.

‘Beauty And The Beast’ – Yet Another Live Action Fairy Tale In The Works

Trance scribe, Joe Ahearne, has signed on to write a live adaptation of Disney’s classic fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. Ahearne is a brave man to continue with this project, considering legendary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro also has a live action Beauty and the Beast in the works, with none other than Emma Watson attached to star.

Ahearne recently helped write  Danny Boyle’s Trance, an action film starring James MacAvoy and Vincent Cassel. | Full Story

‘OZ’ Headed For Big Numbers This Weekend

The origin flick to The Wizard of Oz is expected to have big numbers come the close of the weekend. Already topping Friday’s charts during its opening night bringing in $24.1 million.

According to some reports, Oz the Great and Powerful could reach the $80 million mark for the weekend. However, Disney insiders are estimated a little more modest amount at $74 million.

The films numbers mark the third best opening for a March movie opening ever, since last year’s Hunger Games. | Full Story

Disney is stretching the success of  Cars with an aviation spinoff aptly titled Planes. I’m sure Disney knows exactly what they are doing to rake in the big bucks AND make Planes an overwhelming family friendly success. Although, casting Dane Cook as the lead plane doesn’t exactly sound family friendly to me…

Ron Howard In Talks to Direct Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Graveyard Book’

A report from Collider has recently claimed Ron Howard is in talks to direct a live-action adaptation of The Graveyard Book, a beyond-the-grave story from famed author Neil Gaiman.

The Graveyard Book was picked up almost a year ago by Disney, a move originally intended to reunite director Henry Selick with more material from Neil Gaiman. Selick found success with Coraline, and it only makes sense that the media giants sought to recreate results with another spooky stop-motion animated feature. | Full Story

Aladdin Rides His Magic Carpet All The Way To Broadway

A musical adaptation of the beloved 1992 Disney film, Aladdin, is set to become a Broadway production. The new musical promises some of our favorite songs from the original film, such as Friend Like Me, along with some upbeat new numbers added to the mix.
