David Oyelowo Is Sugar Ray Robinson In Boxers Biopic 'Sweet Thunder'

With the amount of biopics in production right now, it appears that it’s biopic season in Hollywood. Andre 3000 is in the process of bringing back to life Jimmy Hendricks, while there appears to be a growing controversy over the casting of Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone in her biopic. Now, David Oyelowo is the latest to recreate a real person as boxer Sugar Ray Robinson in Sweet Thunder.

According to Deadline, the film will be based on the Wil Haygood’s biography “Thunder: The Life And Times Of Sugar Ray Robinson”, which was first published in 2009. | Full Story

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Poster Unveiled

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln is getting quite the buzz as the countdown continues to the November 9 released date. Today, DreamWorks Studios has unveiled the official poster for Lincoln, Starring never work unless he wants to Daniel Day-Lewis as the title role. Sally Field, David Strathairn, David Oyelowo, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader and Tommy Lee Jones also join Lewis (a two time Oscar winner) to tell the story of our 16th President’s trials and tribulations while in office. | Full Story

First Look: Forrest Whitaker As 'The Butler'

The first official photo from Lee Daniels’ The Butler has come online featuring lead actor Forest Whitaker as The Butler.

The Oscar winning actor will play Eugene Allen who worked at the White House for 34 years. The African American butler served a total of eight American presidents, observed the civil rights movement, and was brought back after he retired to witness the inauguration of the country’s first black president, Barack Obama. | Full Story

Pernell Walker has landed a role to play in Lee Daniels’ upcoming film The Butler. The Pariah actress will play the character name Lorraine in the movie. Based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s best-selling book “Team of Rivals”, Spielberg’s version will follow Lincoln as president after he embarked on his mission to end the Civil War, preserve the Union and abolish slavery; a mission that seemed impossible, because of the powerful men in the cabinet who opposed him. | Full Story

David Oyelowo joins the cast of Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln‘ He will play the role of calvalryman. Oyelowo is a busy man these days, agreeing to do the Spielberg project while currently shooting the Christopher McQuarrie directed ‘One Shot‘ starring Tom Cruise. Oyelowo plays the lead detective investigating a sniper massacre in Pittsburgh.

In addition, Oyelowo just wrapped Lee Daniels’s ‘Paperboy‘ and will be seen next starring in George Lucas ‘Red Tails,’ a drama about a group of African Americans pilots called the Tuskegee airmen, whom has to fight home grown racism in order to fight for their country during WWII. | Full Story

The cast is forming quickly for the crime thriller ‘One Shot.‘ The latest to snag a role is Alexia Fast. Also rounded up in the mix are David Oyelowo, Richard Jankins, and Rosamund Pike.

David Oyelowo gets the lead role in ‘The Paperboy’ Oyelowo with play Yardley a journalist who teams up with another writer to investigate a murder conviction of a death-row inmate in Florida. It’s based on the Pete Dexter novel.

You will also see Oyelowo as a business man who’s greed creates a colony of intelligent primate that lead a uprising in Planet of the Apes. The British actor was set to play Martin Luther King in MLK but the production had its share of set back and the project was shelved. | Full Story
