It’s only fitting one of the biggest movies of the year should warrant a jam-packed Blu-Ray and DVD release. The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter in Christopher Nolan’s epic, genre-defining Batman trilogy, will be released on home video December 4th. Something tells me a lot of excited fanboys and fangirls will be asking Santa for this one.

The film, which is the biggest of the year, made $18 million last night, which proved to be down 76% from last Friday’s opening. According to word on the street, an action-packed prologue of the newest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, will be displayed prior to the much awaited Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol film. The Dark Knight Rises will open in cinemas on July 20, 2012, but Batman fans can catch the trailer by viewing Mission Impossible – The Ghost Protocol, which opens on December 16, 2011. I can literally hear all the Batman fans letting out a long hard sigh of relief. The first picture of Anne Hathaway in full costume for The Dark Knight Rises looked more like a hot futuristic biker babe. I know fans trust Christopher Nolan completely, but questions did arise as to whether Anne Hathaway would actually be “Catwoman“.
