Why Daniel Day Lewis Didn’t Deserve To Win Best Actor For ‘Lincoln’

Day Lewis

With the Oscars wrapping up a few days ago, it’s hard not to reflect over the nominees, winners and how somethings didn’t seem to add up. Ben Affleck isn’t nominated for Best Director, but Argo wins Best Picture.  I guess they loved everything about the film,  just not necessarily the directing. Sounds crazy, right?

This year, the category of best actor caught my attention and sent an alarm through my film geek nervous system. | Full Story

Oscars 2013: ‘Argo’ Takes Best Picture

Ben Affleck

We may see Ben Affleck directing more often, his dramatic thriller Argo  took home the coveted Oscar for Best Picture in last nights show.

However, deciding a winner in the Best Picture category certainly wasn’t cut and dry for the Academy. Argo had some very stiff competition including the award favorite Life of Pi and the highly-praised Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook. This also included Lincoln‘s Daniel Day-Lewis bringing home the Best Actor award and Silver Linings Playbook‘s Jennifer Lawrence falling over with excitement after her win as Best Actress. | Full Story

Ben Affleck Confirms ‘Live By Night’ To Be Next Project

Ben Affleck

A recent report from Screenrant has claimed Ben Affleck’s next directorial project will be Live By Night, a Dennis Lehane adaptation centered around organized crime.

Ben Affleck’s name has been dropped quite a few times in the past 24 hours, mostly concerning the fact that he has been passed over as a Best Director nominee for his latest film, Argo. The young filmmaker has chosen to deal with this knowledge by focusing on his next project: another adaptation from same writer that granted him the successfully riveting storyline for Gone Baby Gone. If you’re not a fan of Gone Baby Gone (God help you) and remain unconvinced, be aware that Dennis Lehane also provided the framework for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island. | Full Story

Terrence Malick’s ‘To The Wonder’ Drops First Trailer

To The Wonder Affleck McAdams

The first trailer for Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder has surfaced online, promising a surreal ode to the notion of love. At least, that’s what we’re guessing.

A Terrence Malick film would not be complete without shaky camera work, high definition, a non-linear storyline and heart wrenching voiceovers. To The Wonder — unsurprisingly — seems to have a bit of everything, including Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem. | Full Story
