Seth MacFarlane Spits Out Oscars Carrot And Tries To Get Joaquin Phoenix To Eat It

If you were anticipating the return of Seth MacFarlane as host for the Academy Awards, I’m afraid I have some bad news.

MacFarlane will not reprise the host position at the Oscars this March.  On Monday, The Family Guy creator broke the news via Twitter, tweeting, “Traumatized critics exhale: I’m unable to do the Oscars again. Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep” McFarlane added “However, I highly recommend the job, as Zadan and Meron are two of the most talented producers in the business.”

MacFarlane was referring to Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced the show in February and will again do the job in 2014. | Full Story

The debate still rages on for the Los Angeles Film Critics Association 2012 award selections. Since they’re still being made and votes are still being counted, it will be a while before all the results are made public. Still, some of the the decisions have been handed down and since the Los Angeles Film Critics usually makes  strange choices, there is bound to be some kind of surprises this year.

Dwight Henry and Amy Adams were the biggest mentions of the afternoon so far with Henry receiving the honor of best supporting actor for Beasts of the Southern Wild and Adams receiving Best Supporting Actress for The Master. | Full Story

NY Film Festival Positioning Of ‘Flight’ Hints Oscar Worthy Performance By Denzel Washington

The upcoming Robert Zemeckis mystery thriller, Flight, starring Denzel Washington is set to close out the 50th Edition of the New York Film Festival.  The announcement may suggest that Paramount has high hopes the film will be a major Oscar contender come award season.

Idris Elba Wins Golden Globe For Best Actor In A TV Miniseries

Idris Elba of “Luther” won the Golden Globe award for best actor in a series, miniseries or motion picture made for television at the 69th Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills. Elba reigned victorious for the award over Bill Nighy of “Page Eight,” Bonneville of “Downton Abbey,” Dominic West of “The Hour,” and William Hurt of “Too Big to Fail.”
