Amidst plummeting ratings and eight months after the incident ignited outrage, Matt Lauer is finally speaking out about the ouster of his former Today show co-host, Ann Curry.  Today has slipped into second place in ratings to arch-rival Good Morning America, and some are saying Curry’s firing has a lot to do with it.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, his first interview about the debacle at Today, Lauer admitted the once-dominant morning program mishandled Curry’s dismissal and the mistake did some serious damage to him and the show. | Full Story

Ann Curry says a tearful goodbye on her last morning with the Today show

Former Today show co-host, Ann Curry, is apparently begging NBC to release her from her non-compete contract, so she can join the CNN news family. Earlier this year, the NBC Today show co-host was let go from her position so she could fulfill a new role with the network.

According to TMZ, NBC network sources said they would pay Ann Curry at least $10 million to leave the Today show, even though her contract had not expired. | Full Story

Ann Curry’s exited co-anchor’s chair was occupied this morning by Savannah Guthrie, following the Today veteran’s sudden ouster yesterday.

However, there has been no official announcement by NBC, on or off air, that Guthrie will be the permanent replacement for Curry.

The show opened up this morning, by omitting the usual announcement of the programs hosts. Other than that, there was a business-as-usual atmosphere, with Guthrie introducing the day’s headlines and hot topics following a brief banter with Matt Laurer. | Full Story

Despite NBC’s plans to remove her from the Today show, host Ann Curry still clocked in as if it was a normal morning.

According to several reports, the network has begun making secret preparations to oust Curry from the morning news show, a year after she joined the program and dedicated her ‘dream job’ to her deceased parents.
