Baz Luhrmann is pulling out all the stops for his highly anticipated new movie, The Great Gatsby. The newest trailer features legendary, contemporary crooners like Beyonce, Andre 3000, Lana Del Rey, and Florence + the Machines.

While these musicians are all present day super stars, their sounds still complement the 20′s set period piece beautifully. Florence Welsh’s stirring voice chanting “I can see the green light” is enough to give anyone the chills, while Beyonce Knowles and Andre 3000′s collaboration on Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black is undeniably powerful. | Full Story

Andre “3000″ Benjamin, the successful rapper-turned-actor, recently wrapped up his part as Jimi Hendrix in the film All Is By My Side. Since receiving the part, the diverse musician hasn’t said too much about the role until now. While speaking to Spin Magazine in an interview, Benjamin elaborated a little about playing the legend and how he relates to him in many ways. “In researching him”, Benjamin said. “I saw that a lot of the paths that he went down where the same ones that I went down when I was a young kid. | Full Story

New pictures of Andre 3000 portrayed as Jimi Hendrix have been released. The rapper turned actor is currently in Wicklow, Ireland shooting a movie based on a part of the rock legend’s life.

The biopic titled All Is By My Side, will show the guitar player’s experiences while in the UK from 1966 and 1967. During that stay, he created hit music with his guitar and also completed his debut album “Are You Experienced”. | Full Story

Jimi Hendrix’s Estate Puts Stop To Andre 3000′s Movie Of The Legend

Jimi Hendrix’ estate isn’t granting full participation for the film-makers of the upcoming biopic All Is By My Side. All Is By My Side is an upcoming movie of the rocker legend that’s supposed to star Andre 3000. According to reports, Experience Hendrix LLC will not release any of Hendrix’ recordings for the film.

The estate said: “Experience Hendrix, LLC, the family-owned company entrusted with safeguarding the legacy of Jimi Hendrix and administrator of the Jimi Hendrix music and publishing catalogue, has made it known many times in the past that no such film, were it to include original music or copyrights created by Jimi Hendrix, can be undertaken without its full participation.”

“Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix, sister of Jimi Hendrix, and the EH board have not ruled out a ‘biopic’ in the future though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions.”

All Is By My Side, which is being directed by John Ridley, will show the guitar player’s life while in England in 1966 and 1967. | Full Story
