James Bond To Be Honored At Academy Awards

After 50 years of being a wildly popular franchise, the 85th annual Academy Awards will finally honor James Bond. While the verdict is still out on whether or not the newest bond film, Skyfall, will earn any Oscar nominations, at least Agent 007 will still have a strong presence at the prestigious awards show. Final ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ Trailer Released

Just after SAG and Golden Globes nominations, the final trailer for the highly anticipated Zero Dark Thirty has hit the web. The film has already garnered critical acclaim days before its limited release on December 19th and official release on January 11, 2013.

Academy Award winning director Katheryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal have teamed up for what seems to be another Hurt Locker type success. The two paired back in 2009 to create  The Hurt Locker. | Full Story

‘Shame’ Director Steve McQueen Claims Americans Fear Of Sex Caused Oscar Snub

Oscar nominations have been made, and it appears the Academy overlooked Michael Fassbender for a nomination for best actor. For the fans that place Fassbender on the same tier as George Clooney and Brad Pitt, this was a shameful disappointment.

Steve McQueen, the director of Shame, strongly believes the British actor’s performance was ignored by the Academy because of Oscar voters’ biases about sex. The acclaimed director exclaimed:

“In America they’re too scared of sex, that’s why he wasn’t nominated, If you look at the best actor list you’re saying ‘Michael Fassbender is not on that list?’ It’s kind of crazy. | Full Story

Academy Award Voters Are Overwelmingly Old White Men Study Says

Winners of Academy Awards are chosen from an exclusive group of Hollywood insiders. But just how exclusive that  group might be may shock some or may not be a surprise at all to the various minority groups in the nation.

According to a study conducted by The Los Angeles Times, the Academy, which consists of  5,765 members, is 94 percent Caucasian and 77 percent male. Only 14 percent of the Academy is younger than 50. | Full Story

Michael Douglas Joins Academy Awards As Presenter

Michael Douglas has been tapped to present at this year’s Academy Awards telecast.  This will be one of the first major public appearances the Oscar winning actor has made since recovering from cancer.

Since the awards are kept secret until the broadcast, it’s unclear what award Douglas will present at the Oscars.  The year Douglas’ wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, won best supporting actress for Chicago, he and his father, Kirk Douglas, presented the best picture award to that film. | Full Story

The Academy dropped the official poster for the 84th Oscars today. Deadline reports that the theme is “Celebrate the Movies.” Designed by Anthony Goldshmidt, and Mark and Karen Crawford. Check out the nice work they did below.
