Bruce Willis’ most recent sequel to the Die Hard franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard, became a President’s Day weekend box office hit with $25 million.

The previous movie in the series, Live Free or Die Hard, managed to gross $33,369,559 on its opening weekend back in 2007. For its five-day debut, A Good Day to Die Hard will likely make under $40 million, which is slightly disappointing due to the franchise’s strong history and marketing effort. | Full Story

‘Peanuts’ Will be Coming to the Big Screen… in CG

Deadline reports that the signature has been signed (presumably in blood) over the movie rights to Charles Schulz’s beloved Peanuts series. 20th Century Fox will produce, and Blue Sky Studios, the makers of the Ice Age series, will animate. Steve Martino, co-director on Horton Hears a Who! and Ice Age: Continental Drift, will direct the film, which is already slated for a November 25, 2015 release date.

In an age of rampant nostalgia-baiting in filmmaking, it’s not surprising that someone finally got around to plundering the Peanuts brand for profit. | Full Story

The clock is ticking on the project that Fox says is actively in development. They even announced Joe Carnahan as the new director, but that might not be enough.

Some images surfaced today of Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in Cloud Atlas. Andy and Lana Wachowske join Tom Tykwer in adapting and directing the muti-genra novel by David Mitchell.

Here are two images courtesy of Entertainment Weekly from the upcoming film that features Hanks and Berry as tribesman in a post-apocalyptic future. They are members of a technologically advanced civilization. Jim Broadbent and Ben Whishaw  can be seen in the second photo playing  a composer and young apprentice respectively. | Full Story

Angela Bassett Goes From Broadway To Network TV To Play Director Of The CIA

Angela Bassett is in final negotiations to star in FOX’s untitled drama pilot.  Bassett will play the very calculating director of the CIA who has an unusually large amount of political power.

The TV show follows Jane Forsythe (Saxon Sharbino) an orphaned 14-year-old daughter of a CIA operative who encounters a mystical rogue agent (McMahon) who acts as her surrogate father and professional mentor in the covert world.
