For those familiar with romantic movies, the duo of Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy should not sound at all odd. The two stars pulled at our heartstrings as Celine and Jesse in the romantic drama Before Sunrise and once again the sequel Before Sunset.
Now, according to totalfilm.com, you’ll be able to see the pair potentially get together in yet another sequel, reportedly titled Before Midnight. While Hawke flat out told reporters last week that the film was “very much in the preliminary stages,” reports are now confirming that the movie finished shooting last night.
For those unfamiliar with the Richard Linklater directed films, the original story in Before Sunrise follows a young man and woman’s budding romance after they meet on a train in Europe. They spend an entire romantic night together exploring Vienna before possibly parting ways forever. In Before Sunset, the couple meet again nine years later in Paris. Linklater’s latest installment will see the couple meet in Greece.
Rumors abound that Linklater’s latest installment was completed just in time for this week’s Toronto Film Festival in order to find a potential buyer and distributor. Linklater’s career has been all over the place, and since making A Scanner Darkly, hasn’t really made anything worth mentioning. This is unfortunate considering this is the same Richard Linklater who showed such promise through Dazed and Confused, Waking Life, and School of Rock.
Let’s hope the young director finds his touch once again in this upcoming, under-the-radar drama.
