Have you seen Django? Quentin Tarantino has (he’s seen everything, though, of course). Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 spaghetti western has inspired scores of imitators over the years. In fact, there are numerous films that straight up reused the character of Django, so iconic did that gunslinger become. Django Unchained will no doubt be many things, but at its heart, it is the latest Django rip-off. Which is something that Tarantino has done knowingly and lovingly, as you can tell from the fact that this trailer ends with the trills of the theme song to the original film. Oh, and Franco Nero, the original Django, will have a cameo, to boot.
Oh yeah, this trailer. Not much that we haven’t seen before, and at this point I’m not sure there’s anything that could raise up my already sky-high enthusiasm for it. Check it out for yourself:
Django Unchained will be released Christmas day.
