James Franco’s newest project, Kink, documents the lives of adult film makers specifically in the world of BDSM. As you might imagine the new Kink trailer is NSFW, so watch at your own discretion.
Kink centers on the largest Internet producer of BDSM porn, Kink.com. Very simply put, BDSM explores different erotic experiences involving role playing and restraint. BDSM is the combination of S&M (sadism and masochism), B&D (bondage and discipline), and D & S (dominance and submission).The documentary looks into the process and the production behind producing the erotic fantasies, shedding light and understanding on this “taboo” lifestyle.
The idea of BDSM was thrust into mainstream pop culture after E.L. James released Fifty Shades Of Grey. Her mega popular novels, often dubbed “mommy porn” introduced the general public to an entirely new fantasy world of erotic dominance and submission. However for some, like the people behind Kink.com, BDSM is no new thing, it’s their way of life.
I’ll leave the unveiling of the dirty BDSM details to Franco and his documentary crew, including his longtime cinematographer Christina Voros. Kink will debut this Saturday at the Sundance Film Festival.
