Iron Man 3 Concept Art Comes Online
Just as more questions about Marvel’s intentions for the upcoming Iron Man 3 movie have begun to emerge, some new artwork for the film is making its way around the web.
Illustrated by Ryan Meinerding, the Iron Man 3 concept art raises more questions as well as, drops some interesting clues about the direction, writer/director Shane Black is going with the metallic Avenger.
The piece, dubbed ‘Caged’, depicts Tony Stark (Robert Downy Jr.) in a very sticky situation. With only part of his suit covering his left arm and lower leg, Stark appears surrounded by heavily armed villains .
One thing that is very clear in the Iron Man 3 Concept Art is the man behind the iron mask is no longer a mystery.
On the other hand, a number of questions are begging to be asked, such as: How was Stark’s secret identity exposed in the first place, and is this the new nanotechnology-based armor from the Iron Man: Extremis comics?
Iron Man 3 is based on Warren Ellis‘ comic book arc, “Extremis”. In the film, Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) is reportedly using advanced nanotechnology to build an Extremis army. This army may consist of villains Coldblood (James Badge Dale) and Firepower (Ashley Hamilton).
The film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, and Rebecca Hall. Iron Man 3 hits theaters in May 3, 2013.
