Seth MacFarlane is a busy man, and one of the many balls he has in the air is about to land a coup: Charlize Theron is “in final negotiations” to star in his upcoming comedy western film. This news comes courtesy of THR. The movie, called A Million Ways to Die in the West, has been described as “Blazing Saddles-style,” of course. Here’s the plot description:
[The movie] follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him. When he meets the wife of a notorious outlaw who offers to teach him how to shoot, the farmer at first sees a chance to win back his love but slowly falls for the woman. Complications ensue when the outlaw returns and reclaims his woman.
This is pretty cool news for Theron, even with the dubiousness that MacFarlane evokes in me. Young Adult proved that she is capable of some serious comedy chops. While there are many things that could go wrong with this film (too many scatological jokes, too many jokes that go on forever, 80′s references somehow still getting in), Theron isn’t likely to be one of them.
