Tom Cruise has taken on another mission under alias agent Ethan Hunt. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have both confirmed the veteran actor has signed a deal to star in and produce the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, according to a Deadline report.

Of course this comes as no surprise since the last installment, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, made on a $145 million budget, busted up the box office with a global haul of nearly $700 million, the most a Cruise film has ever raked in. | Full Story

A new Man Of Steel TV spot came online today by way of Warner Bros. Pictures—the studio behind the superhero movie, and at the 0:24 mark, the spot shows Superman letting out an uncharacteristic angry roar as he flies off to sock it to some bad guys. The summer blockbuster season officially kicked off with the release of Iron Man 3 on Friday, and at the rate the film is performing, it could be the second highest three-day weekend opening ever.

On Friday, Iron Man 3 debuted to a hefty $68.31 million making it the eighth biggest opening day ever. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse are the only films to do better in that category. | Full Story

Sony is not quite done milking the cash cow known as the Men in Black franchise. The studio is currently in the early development stage of Men in Black 4, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Originally, Portman was to star opposite Michael Fassbender — but he abruptly exited the project in early March reportedly because of scheduling conflicts with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Los Angeles Film Festival is one of the few major festivals that go down within the confines of my fair city. Which is odd, considering that we’re the movie capital of the world. Oh well.
