After being benched for majority of Iron Man 2, actress Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow character will be appearing in Iron Man 3.
According to a casting call-out, the actress will play the Soviet spy alongside Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle and Gwyneth Paltrow.
“The storyline is being described by writer-director Shane Black as being a Tom Clancy-thriller,” says the call-out, “with Iron Man fighting real world villains.”
Black is looking to improve on the third movie in the series, following a less stellar performance on the second installment of the film.
“The studio wasn’t happy with the result of Iron Man 2,” he said in the call out. “That pretty much came about due to a rushed production schedule in an attempt to hit a release date rather than simply make a good film, but I digress. Iron Man 3 will not be another, ‘two men in iron suits fighting each other.’”
The film is slated to hit theaters in May 2013.
