‘The Wolverine’ Gets an Awesome Teaser Poster

hr_The_Wolverine_2

How do you solve a problem like Wolverine? Arguably Marvel’s most iconic on-screen character, Wolverine first broke out in X-Men. Filmmakers have been trying to build a new X-Men/Wolverine film franchise since the disappointing X-Men: The Last Stand, including the ill-fated spin-off X-Men Origins. After the failure of that prequel effort, how do you convince viewers another Wolverine movie is worth their time?

With a seriously awesome teaser poster, of course. | Full Story

johnny_depp_glasses

It’s not every day you snag Johnny Depp to headline your directorial debut; but not every first-time director is an Academy Award winning cinematographer, either.

Deadline reports Johnny Depp is negotiating to star in Transcendence, the feature debut from celebrated DP Wally Pfister. Pfister is most well-known for his collaborations with Christopher Nolan, including all three Batman films and Inception, for which he won the Best Cinematography Oscar. | Full Story

Raimi’s ‘Evil Dead’ Remake Gets a Bloody Red Band Trailer

evil-dead-remake-poster

When Sam Raimi announced he’d be writing a remake of his own seminal horror classic The Evil Dead, I think the general reaction was “Why, God, why?!” Practically the definition of “cult classic,” Raimi’s feature debut re-defined low budget horror, pushed the boundaries of good taste, helped revamp the American independent film, and created a pop-cult icon in Bruce Campell‘s Ash.

And with so many remakes, re-imaginings, prequels and Hollywood’s general cannibalization of cinema history recently, I think we had a right to be worried. | Full Story

Alfred Hitchcock Wants You To Silence Your Cell Phone

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen…”

Alfred Hitchcock reveled in on-camera theatrics, from appearing in cameos in his films, to camping it up in their trailers. So, something tells me the dearly departed Master of Suspense would love this new in-theater PSA.

Ostensibly an ad for the upcoming Hitchcock, Anthony Hopkins as Hitch warns terrified moviegoers that “nothing is more horrifying than talking or texting in the middle of the movie.” Of course, Hitchcock had strict rules about his films were to be seen. | Full Story

Armie Hammer Eyed For WB’s ‘Justice League’ Batman

justice-league-movie-1

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Warner Bros. was planning a ‘Justice League’ movie and a then-unknown Armie Hammer was cast as Batman. The only problem was: Christian Bale was already Batman. Fans balked at having multiple universe Batmen. Then came the writer’s strike, and the project was shut down indefinitely. Then came Marvel’s slew of superhero films, and it seemed any attempt to relaunch DC Comics’ superhero super team would seem like riding Marvel’s coattails. | Full Story

seven_psychopaths_ver13

Collider has posted some great new character posters for Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths.

The film concerns the misadventures of Marty (Colin Farrel), a screenwriter with serious writer’s block, whose weirdo dog-snatching friends (Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken) get them all in big trouble when they steal the beloved pet Shih Tzu of an insane gangster (Woody Harrelson).

Each unique poster was created by a different artist and each represents the, uh, special qualities of the titular psychopathic septet. | Full Story

Killing Them Softly, which stars Brad Pitt as a slick professional enforcer (and made our list of Most Anticipated Movies Coming to Theaters This Fall), just debuted six new posters. Oh, did I just say six posters? I meant six extremely awesome, stylish, custom designed pieces of art I’d like hanging on my wall.

Designed by Gravillis Inc., whose work you might recognize from their striking campaign for Oliver Stone’s Savages and the Inglourious Basterds character posters, these posters emphasize the film’s political commentary on the greed and violence endemic in American society. | Full Story
